I have discovered the most delicious bread recipe and I wanted to share it with the world. Well to be honest I found the recipe on the internet so some of you may have it already. I found the recipe under the title of Amish White Bread and made just a couple of changes. I replaced the water in the recipe with milk because milk makes the bread softer. I also use bread flour instead of all purpose flour. The bread flour has more gluten in it so the loaf tends to rise higher. My family loves this bread and it gets goubled up. Here is the recipe to make one loaf:
1 cup warm milk (110-115 degrees)
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons oil
3 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon dry yeast
instructions: disolve sugar in milk and stir in yeast. Allow to stand until yeast forms a creamy foam (about 15 minutes). Add salt, oil, 2 cups of the flour. I use my Kitchenaid mixer with the dough hook to kneed my bread so at this point I turn the mixer on and slowly add the other cup of flour. You can kneed the dough by hand or let the mixer do it for about 10 minutes. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in bulk. Punch down and shape into loaf and place into a greesed loaf pan. Cover again and let rise in a warm place for 30 – 45 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until done.
